Countryside Manor of Bristol Recognized As Top-Performing Nursing Facility
BRISTOL, C.T. — Joel Carmichael, administrator of Countryside Manor of Bristol in Bristol, Connecticut, has been recognized for his leadership with a national award.
The Athena skilled nursing facility has been identified as a top performer by the American College of Health Care Administrators. 281 facilities in the United States qualify, eight of which are in Connecticut. Only 2% of facilities in the country qualify.
The Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award recognizes the administrators of these centers using publicly collected data by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The award, started in 2008, uses data-driven criteria to identify high-performing skilled nursing facilities and their leaders. In order to be eligible, the administrator had to have been in the position for all of 2022 and be an active member of the American College of Health Care Administrators. The center must have no surveys with a citation above “E” Scope and Severity in the past three years, have a CMS star rating of three or above, have at least 70% occupancy, avoid the status of Special Focus Facility, and more.
“I think that’s great for Countryside. The building works real hard day in and day out and it shows in the care we deliver,” Carmichael said. “People are excited.”
Carmichael said it’s the teamwork of Countryside from the nurses to the dietary aides and everyone in between that contributed to this award.
There will be an EPFLA luncheon on April 25th where recipients will receive their award certificate.
